Although it is very much a poorly kept secret, today I'm officially stating it: Yes! I am running for Sooke Council in the 2026 municipal election.
I have the knowledge of current council procedures, governance and staff to hit the ground running and push a sense of urgency and efficiency.
As we head in to another election where likely won't have a referendum on borrowing for the Throup rd connector - which was a major reason/arguement for why the by-election last year was pushed back multiple times - I'm extremely focused on the need to make decisions and stop waffling. Waffling has major costs especially in the realm of infrastucture.
For the first time in Sooke's history, we have municipal parties/slates - at least 2 although we'll find out the full details over the next 2 months. I want to take this moment to absolutely confirm, I am running as an independent. At the municipal level I view party politics as abhorrent - councillors should be able to work together AND publicly challenge each other without having monetary/party reasons interfering. If elected I will work with everyone else regardless of their affiliations to achieve the goals and meet the needs of our community but no I am very much not a fan of slates.
