In BC, local election campaign contributions are regulated by Elections BC. See the high points below, or check out their more detailed website.

  • Only BC residents who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents can contribute.
  • Contributions over $100 are publicly reported.
  • Contributions under $50 can be made anonymously at in person events.
  • Unfortunately, unlike donations to Federal and Provincial political candidates, donations to local government candidates are not eligible for tax receipts.
